The art of correct breathing is very important to our system. The air that we breathe feeds our cells, tissues, nerves, glands and organs. Most of us breathe too shallowly, particularly in times of stress. Stale air becomes trapped in the lungs, causing a build up of toxins in the body. Yoga breathing teaches us to open up the chest and allow the lungs to expand fully. When perfected, they eliminate defects formed through tension in the respiratory and cardiovascular systems.
